Gianfranco, also known as "Jeffrey Jey", came up with the idea about writing about the lifestyle of a little guy called "Zorotl". He thought about the way people live their lives, and decided to associate it with a colour, and that colour he chose was blue. So there it was - the song
"Blue(Da Ba Dee)" written and sang within an hour, and produced in the Vinyl format only 15 days later, ready to become a World Wide #1 hit, smashing the charts, giving an amazing success to the birth of the new pop/electronic group, "Eiffel 65". The creation of the name Eiffel 65 has quite an interesting story to tell As these three boyz love technology, they decided to let their computer programme (where they create their cunning, futuristic, special effects music) choose the name for their group. It randomly came up with the name "eiffel". And when they came back, ready to produce it, the name had changed to "Eiffel 65". The number "65" was a piece of a phone number that was accidentally written on the Label copy. They kept this in, believing that it would bring them luck. From the start of their success, the Italian trio, Eiffel 65, whose vocals are sung by "Jeffrey Jey", with "Maurizio Lobina" on the keyboards, and "Gabry Ponte" as their DJ/mixer, they were on the move for 18 months non-stop, playing 400 concerts, doing over 200 promos, and travelling on 500 aeroplanes.
